The album Lithuanian Traditional Foods, which was compiled and updated by the director of the Culinary Heritage Fund, ethnologist Birutė Imbrasienė, will appear in English and German. More than 300 various kinds of traditional recipes will be featured in the book, which were chosen from the different regions of Lithuania. You will find the recipes not only for favorite Lithuanian traditional dishes, but also for totally forgotten recipes, which our grandmothers and mothers passed from generation to generation. In the introduction of the book, a short history of traditional Lithuanian holidays is given, as well as the customs, preparation of food and eating habits connected with them. It is said, that our cuisine is noted for its simplicity and naturalness, however, when you open the book, you will find many unique recipes which are not commonly made today and show the variety of Lithuanian cuisine. For example, have you ever tried hemp milk? Or do you know at what time of the day bread dumplings are made? This beautifully published book can be useful not only for Lithuanians but for all the gourmands all over the world.
